In Portland there is a restaurant named Mother's. Every month they feature (specials, that is) a different mother. It might be a real mother (somebody's mother) or a fantasy mother, or a general statement about motherhood. This month's mother was the Mother of Salmon, a Native American tribal story. Then the specials that month are either actual recipes from that mother (if a real person) or recipes that fit the story.

I think you telling your own mother's story is a great idea.
