Y'all are fortunate to live in California. Your state is big enough to take up most of the slack when the federal government stops doing its job. Hell, California is big enough to be viable as its own sovereign nation, if push came to shove. By comparison, my dear Commonwealth of Massachusetts will shrivel up and die when federal funding for everything from Medicare and public housing to highway maintenance gets cut off. We have only two industries of any size here: health care and education. Both are heavily dependent on people spending vast amounts of money they don't have. When those subsidies get cut, the economy of greater Boston will crash and burn, taking most of New England down with it.

Trump won't care; we're a blue state in a blue region. We are going to be seriously screwed.
