please tell me...

...that LJ doesn't barf on two-word tags.

Oy.

This may be more trouble than it's worth.

Fortunately, you can change the name of a tag once it's created. Add a little underscoring and you're golden.

Just have all the words run together and then go to "manage tags" and edit the two-word tags to be that same word, run together...

Once you fix that glitch, it's smooth-sailing, I promise! (:

It is silly. Clicking on one of your "lj meta" tags loads this URL: http://www.livejournal.com/users/serenejournal/tag/lj+meta, which, as you've observed, doesn't work.

However, all is not lost! The "equivalent" URL http://www.livejournal.com/users/serenejournal/tag/lj%20meta (http://www.livejournal.com/users/serenejournal/tag/lj%20meta) does work—try it and see! %20 is "URL encoding" for a space character. Plus is supposed to be shorthand for a space, too, I don't know why it doesn't Just Work.

Without knowing anything else about LiveJournal's tag system, based on that quick experiment I'd be reasonably confident that it's a bug which will be fixed at some point. So, don't go changing your tags, is my advice.

it's a bug that was introduced with the last code push, and it'll hopefully get corrected with the next one.

they did work correctly originally, and are meant to work correctly.

Change the "+" in the URL to "%20" until they fix it. Then you'll get the page of tagged entries that you wanted.

FWIW, one thing that is annoying to do is merging two tags — e.g., when I noticed that I'd tagged some cooking-related posts with "food" and others with "kitchen", I couldn't rename one to the other; I had to go through and retag each one. (Fortunately, there were only 3 or so using the wrong one.)
