(no subject)

The new year isn't a very big deal to me. I went to bed before midnight, but was up long enough to wish my family a happy 2008. I feel pretty much as [livejournal.com profile] mactavish does: "So here it is, 2008, and good or bad, whatever it is, we'll handle it."

Potatoes and onions for the breakfast tortilla (Spanish thing that's like a frittata) are on the stove, as is the pot of chicken bones and feet for the stock for the soup I was gonna make for [livejournal.com profile] sogwife yesterday, but she was too sick to eat.

Tonight begins the Mom Food Project. Today's mom food is her fried chicken. I talked to her about the details yesterday, and I'll see if I can come close to duplicating it. It's one of the only things of hers that I've not made very much myself, so I'm flying a little blind here.

Happy New Year, everyone. Hope it is a healthy, happy, and prosperous one for you.

Well, no one ever knows what I mean when I say "tortilla" (especially in California, where "tortilla" is a Mexican flatbread, not an egg dish). :-)

And thanks. Hope yours is wonderful, as well.

More time together in 2008?

Is your (borrowed) car working? I have goodies for [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and his household (and you) which people dropped off yesterday, and am working on how to get them to all.

I haven't tried the car yet, but I'm planning to drive or bus to their place tomorrow after work, with a teenager as burly helper, so I can get it from you tonight and take it tomorrow, if that works?

And yes, please, to more time together. The Munchkin leaves on the 5th. I don't know when mom is going to get her act together and kick my sister out (at which point I will be going to San Diego until June, most likely), but until then, I'm free as a bird, as one of my self-care things is gonna be minimizing non-family social interaction for a while.
