(no subject)

First, I nagged the family to make sure they weren't putting anything in the sink while I was waiting for the turkey stock (the gravy base) to cool in there. Then...

...I washed a dish.

Dork.

I flipped out for a moment, collected some calming hugs from [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, and moved on. Shit happens.

Anyway, the turkey stock was lost, but I had 3 chickens' worth of necks and giblets in the freezer, so I've regrouped and will make the gravy from turkey drippings and chicken stock.

Ah, my glamorous life! :-)

Ouch

I'm famous for carefully straining chicken stock RIGHT down the drain leaving bones and gizzard safe and sound in the strainer. I feel your pain!

OW! Nice save, though. It's not a family gathering until a little disaster happens, right? I'm still waiting for mine... although my stock is safely on the counter at the moment.

Ouch! I've also done the draining thing mentioned above.

My gravy was made from (concentrated) turkey broth, cornstarch, fresh thyme, and hardboiled egg. The glutenoids get the drippings, stock, and floury stuff.

I think something has to go wrong or it just isn't Thanksgiving. This thanksgiving we had all the food on the table then realized no gravy. We told her not to but C got up and made some. Then after we were all done eating C did a head slap saying the rolls! It was all good though!
