Oh, cm'on, people. Nanci Griffith made an album of torch songs and no one told me? What kind of friends ARE you, anyway??

Yeesh.

I'd flounce off in a huff, but I don't do flouncing, so I'll just sit here and sigh dramatically.

There's a new dressup Jesus. This time it's the Hollywood version. Fun.

(And do I have to say that if you're offended by humor that makes fun of dead religious icons, you shouldn't click that link?)

Pome

Just wrote this in lieu of a bio for my profile, which was looking all goofy with all those little widgets in there. Anyway, here it is:

I am in love with myself
I am in love with my world
and my lovers and all that is in me
and you. I love you, whether or not we've met.
And sometimes
by the light of the flatscreen glow
I feel like I can touch you
and I know that you have touched me

Bloggers are self-involved, they say
bring laundry-lists of minutiae to a readership of two:
the blogger and her mother.

My mother doesn't read my blog. My mother
(while she loves me -- dotes on me)
is too busy living her frenetic life to stop and spend an hour
to read about what I made for dinner.
So instead, I call her and tell her while she stirs the pasta,
and tends the children that I left behind,
and I describe every morsel to you,
and a part of me is healed.

I have no voice and no brain today (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl, for missing out on the meeting today), but there's good stuff going on:

1) A dear old friend from my evangelical-christian past has found me. He was one of the most sincere, godliest men I knew, and he was a ton of fun, as well. He and I have both left the church since then, and LOTS has happened, and I'm so thrilled to have heard from him.

2) I took the day off today from work. I worked hard through my sickest days, and I need a down day now. I feel a smidge of guilt, but I shouldn't. It's supposed to be a part-time job anyway.

3) [livejournal.com profile] sogwife and [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy brought me leftover Ethiopian food from their VDay dinner last night, and damned if it wasn't really tasty chopped up and fried like hash this morning. Mmmmmmmm.

If I had an LJ filter of Octavia Butler fans, it would probably be nearly as large as my entire friendslist, so here, all y'all should see this. (Even if you're not local, you could post it or let your Bay Area friends know about it or somethin', yes?)

I can bet that [livejournal.com profile] stonebender will wanna go with me, and I know some of you will be there, too, yes?
