A few notes

1) So busy lately that I barely read LJ, much less post. Trying to figure out how to manage my time and stress so that I can get fun stuff done, too. Today, I took a few hours off and went to see "Dreamgirls" with Danny. It was good, but not great, and I spent the final half hour stressing about how I wasn't home working. I gotta knock that shit off. I'm usually much better at living in the moment. (Part of this is that I'm not convinced I'm any good at the new job, and I hate being not-good at stuff.)

2) I got my insurance card in the mail! That means that starting on the first of next month, I can afford to go to the doctor for my chronic ailments, and not bankrupt my family by doing so. It also means I have a lot of motivation for busting my ass to get better at this job, so I can continue to work at home and get medical benefits while doing it.

3) My first splurge in months was a whole mess of really cool spice containers from Ikea today. I'll put up a picture when I get them filled and arranged. They're bringing me all kinds of joy.

4) As stressy as the work situation is, I cannot express the joy I've been finding in being in my home and spending my days with [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy instead of a building full of corporate (or public-sector) weenies.

I can totally relate to the corporate weenies comment. The latest torture is our department starting a "biggest looser" club.

losers and winners

Oh, barf. Perhaps you could put a sign up by your desk, proclaiming yourself a "winner", and refusing to compete in that obnoxious game! I mean, you have your health to consider, here!

Oh I am so not participating! It only took them over 3 years but they finally got the hint not to ask me to join all the incessant diet clubs etc that are continually running around work. But I still have to put up with them talking about what they ate, what exercise class is best, why they did or didn't loose this week drives me nuts! I did make a comment about it last week. I think it took cause the talk has lessened but not stopped. I think I only have to deal with this attempt for a few more weeks thank goodness! But then there is the inevitable bitch sessions about what was or was not fair when it came to how they decided who won. Sometimes I just want to scream GET A LIFE! But know where I work they would probably can my ass!

What are you doing at this new job? It sounds like a good one!

It's got its good moments. I'm doing some customer service (love it), some minor web programming (love it), and some attempting to keep the boss organized (hate it).
