While I wait for
someotherguy to finish his shower so we can walk to the store, I'll do this survey I stole from
autographedcat:
1. Did you date someone from your school?
Nope. The one person who asked me for a date when I was in high school was in his 20s and I was maybe 13 years old, so I of course said no. I wonder sometimes about that. He was a really nice guy.
2. Did you win anything in Seniors Who's Who?
I assume this is that "Prettiest Hair / Most Likely To Succeed" stuff in the yearbook. If so, then no.
3. What kind of car did you drive?
I was too young to drive in High School. When I graduated, my mom bought me a big brown ancient Ford Maverick. I was thrilled. It cost $400, and that was a LOT of money to my mom at the time.
4. It's Friday night...where are you?
Home. I didn't go out much.
5. Were you a party animal?
I'll steal Rob's answer here: I wasn't even a party vegetable.
6. Were you considered a flirt?
No no nononono. I wasn't really considered at all, and if I was, it was as the weird nerdy fat girl. Or as the friend who would do things for you without asking anything in return.
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
Choir, and Jazz Ensemble, and Drama, and Speech Team, and Chorale...
8. Were you a nerd?
Oh, yeah.
9. Did you get suspended/expelled?
Nope, but I was sometimes threatened with it because I skipped class a lot.
10. Can you sing the fight song?
Oh, yeah. "Mount Miguel, we sing to thee / In praises will our voices be / Let fall on campus hall / brave deeds in answer to thy call / Faith and honor to sustain / shall be the goal we will attain / Mount Miguel, we pledge to thee / our faith and truest loyalty"
11. Who were your favorite teachers?
CT Whalen (choir & ensemble; I had a crush); Susan Tinsley (algebra; she's still my mom's dear friend, and I saw her a bit when I was in San Diego -- she remains to this day the best math teacher I ever had, and I took a LOT of math); Larry Nordell (chemistry and physics; he was kind of a jerk, but an amazingly good, funny, engaging teacher)
12. Where did you sit during lunch?
Hmm. Wherever. The quad, the library, my mom's office (she started working at my high school in my 10th-grade year, and still works there, nearly 30 years later)
13. What was your school's full name?
Mount Miguel High School (Mt. San Miguel is a nearby (small) mountain).
14. School mascot?
Matadors
15. Homecoming court?
I think my friend Stephanie Warren was homecoming queen, but I'm not sure I'm remembering right.
16. If you could go back and do it again, would you?
Copying the cat again: If I could go back knowing what I know now, maybe I'd be willing to do a sort of Sam Beckett leap into my former self episode. You couldn't pay me to go back there and stay, though.
17. What do you remember most about graduation?
The dress I wore; that my parents wanted me to choose who would attend, since they were avoiding each other, but I refused to choose, so they both attended; that the Valedictorian threw away her approved speech and gave a come-to-Jesus sermon, and my Jewish uncle walked out.
18. Where did you go senior skip day?
Heh. I skipped a lot, but I don't know what I did that day (we called it Senior Ditch Day).
19. Have you gained some weight since then?
Yeah, some. Not a ton. I weighed 271 when I graduated (I have always been pretty aware of what I weigh) and now I weigh 325 or so.
20. Who was your Senior prom date?
Didn't go.
21. Are you planning on going to your 10-year reunion?
Didn't go. Nor to the 20th or 25th (which was last year).
22. Who was your home room teacher?
I honestly don't remember. Home room wasn't a big deal in my school, but it was 2nd period, and the only difference was that they read the school bulletin that period.
23. Who will repost?
Don't know or really care.
24. Did you play any sports?
Not in high school. In grade school, I was a big softball nerd.
25. Do you still talk to people from school?
Just one, unless my mom and siblings count.
26. What year did you graduate?
1982

Lots of someones!
2. Did you win anything in Seniors Who's Who?
Nope.
3. What kind of car did you drive?
I rode the bus, or my bike.
4. It's Friday night...where are you?
Depends on the year--by sophomore year I was at a party most Fridays, senior year I spent most weekends at my boyfriend's house.
5. Were you a party animal?
Maybe--I went to a lot but I didn't stay out late or act crazy. Just danced to the music and ate the munchies.
6. Were you considered a flirt?
Not according to a recent report by someone who was there, no. Although he does have a crush on me so the report may be biased.
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
Nope.
8. Were you a nerd?
Nope.
9. Did you get suspended/expelled?
Nope.
10. Can you sing the fight song?
Nope.
11. Who were your favorite teachers?
Berk Moss (chem), Bill Pressley (civics), and Madame Bray (French).
12. Where did you sit during lunch?
In the cafeteria unless it was nice, then outside.
13. What was your school's full name?
Sunset High School
14. School mascot?
Apollo. Yes, the Greek god.
15. Homecoming court?
Nope.
16. If you could go back and do it again, would you?
Only on terms of being who I am today emotionally and intellectually, but after all, the question makes no sense in any other terms.
17. What do you remember most about graduation?
That my parents fought and wouldn't speak to each other, so I had to run back and forth between them to make dinner plans for after. I was so angry with them, and felt completely unimportant--obviously I was less important than their need to fight.
18. Where did you go senior skip day?
I didn't skip--I didn't do that stuff.
19. Have you gained some weight since then?
Yeah, over 100 pounds.
20. Who was your Senior prom date?
The boy I'd been dating on and off for all of high school.
21. Are you planning on going to your 10-year reunion?
Went. Went to the 20th. Skipped the 25th (they gave less than 10 days' notice). Would kinda like to go to the 30th, if there is one.
22. Who was your home room teacher?
We didn't have home room.
23. Who will repost?
Stupid question.
24. Did you play any sports?
Only in class, as part of PE.
25. Do you still talk to people from school?
Sure, one or two. Heck, my ex-husband is one of them.
26. What year did you graduate?
1979.
