Movie review, no spoilers: The Aristocrats

I laughed, I cringed, I laughed some more. And even more than ever, I
want Penn Jillette's babies. Conveniently, [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy wants
to be Penn when he grows up, so we may be able to cut a deal.

Comedians I haven't seen in ages, being all fraternal and funny and
raunchy, and if you have a really sick sense of humor, you will love this
movie.

[edit: spoilers in comments]

integrity in politics? the hell you say.

Check out [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy's latest post. He
has a way of noticing good politicians before I do.

More info on Hackett

Not sure I want the Universal Soldier running things, but I'm collecting
info about Paul Hackett because he interests me. His stand on choice is
pretty close to mine, though it may worry some of my more pro-abortion
friends. His stand on gay rights is obviously right up my alley. But he
volunteered to serve in Iraq, and that worries me.

Here's the text of the email his site will send to your friends if you choose the 'Tell Your Friends' option on his website )

Mostly, I just love the name

Taken from today's VegNews
newsletter
:

Japanese horticulturists have developed a tablet from fruit
berries
that, when taken, causes sour foods to taste sweet. Expect to see products
containing miraculin, the sweet-causing protein, on shelves
soon.

the weekend in review

Today: Am at work at the best temp job
ever
. Have a cold, but am making sure not to touch or breathe on
anyone.

Tomorrow: Work half a day at the best temp job ever, then go pick up
Munchkin The Younger at the airport. Zie'll be here until Monday evening.

Saturday: Birthday party for the Munchkin at [livejournal.com profile] stonebender's place.

Sunday: Birthday trip to Berkeley for the Munchkin, stopping at the anime
store, Sushi Afloat, and Other Change of Hobbit.
Also perhaps Rasputin, if any
birthday money remains.

Monday: Play games with Munchkin. Do laundry with Munchkin. Let
Munchkin kick my ass at Ms. Pacman at the laundromat. Take Munchkin to
the airport and collapse in a heap.

If you're on my friendslist...

...you probably don't need reminding that Molly Ivins is a god, but here, be
reminded anyway
.

Also, I really need to pick up a copy of Jimmy Carter's new
book
, and she reminded me of that.

I actually don't fool myself into believing any of my interests is unique, but I'll be interested to see if anyone comments on this one with "I have that!"

We're torn on this: Jackhammer Jesus? Stovetop popcorn popper? Saddle stapler? Cold toddy brewer? Electronic candy thermometer? I can't think of a gadget/tool that I might have that others don't, because my friends are gadget-mad geeks!

(no subject)

[livejournal.com profile] berkeleyfarm, your dip request disappeared. Here is what my answer was gonna be:

Unbelievably simple, but when our friend in San Diego served it, no one would believe that all that was in it was a 50/50 blend of sour cream and cream cheese, and a bunch of chopped shallots. SO SO delicious.

I also really love a basic spinach dip (get the recipe off the back of a Mrs. Grass or Knorr veggie soup mix packet) with the addition of a few chopped scallions and a can of water chestnuts, minced finely.
