April 1: got health insurance

April's doctor appointments:

GP
Thyroid doc
Thyroid ultrasound

May:

Thyroid doc (biopsy)
GYN
GP (same day as GYN)
Treadmill test
Foot doc

June:

Ophthalmologist
Ultrasound-guided biopsy (same day as Ophthalmologist)
Mirena insertion (two days later -- that's gonna be a hell of a week)

Still left to schedule:

Mammogram
Hip/back x-ray
Hand surgery? (to repair the nerve damage from my fall)
Neurologist? (vertigo)

I refuse to think too much about how much it's costing me right now.

Gotta wait until we have dental insurance. June, I think.

Wow, sounds like my last year. *hugs* if you'd like them ... it's never fun to do all that.

My insurance won't do Mirena. I am still fighting it.

Mine will do the fitting and insertion, but not the device itself. Not sure how that will work out. As of now, though, doing it without any insurance is $400, and while that's a lot, it's doable with a little planning.

I have a similar situation.

If you're up for the time on the phone, you could fight that on these grounds.

Wow, you rock. I just sent them another email.

before you get any more thyroid stuff done, hop over to http://www.mediboard.com/forums/index.php?

Seriously. Trust me on this. I nearly had radioactive iodine shoved down my throat which would have cost me my health the rest of my life.

Have we met?

And there's no danger that I'll consent to radiation treatments, but thanks.

Nope. I wandered in here through the livejournal friendsfriends feature. But I know [livejournal.com profile] eeyore_grrl.

While the board is mostly about hypo and hyper rather than other growths, there is a really good post that also covers thyroid surgery (http://www.mediboard.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16573) and some issues to be aware of related to it.

I've just had a bunch of issues with the medical profession that I'm a little protective of other people with thyroid problems. :P

Well, thanks! I appreciate the heads-up.
