A really big deal
Jan. 15th, 2008 08:32 amWhen I got together with cute-poet-chick, she had one chair in her living
room, big enough for just her. I bought us a sofa, but I started to
really miss the recliner I'd had at my previous place, so I started
lobbying for a recliner. I'm only truly comfy in a reclined, feet-up
position, but she didn't want one because it would be big and ugly and
expensive, so I never got one.
Since I met
someotherguy, I've had essentially the same problem.
When we have money, it usually goes for something more urgent, and
someotherguy doesn't want something big and ugly and expensive in
the living room. He kept proposing cheap Ikea pseudo-recliners, but those
things aren't comfortable for me, so I just skipped it, figuring I'd
manage it when I could.
Well, yesterday,
sogwife got me a recliner. She kept her eyes
open on Freecycle, requested and didn't get one in December (I'm actually
glad, because it was leather), and then got the one she brought home last
night. It's *great*. Very comfy, and
someotherguy doesn't love
it, but he doesn't think it's hideous. It's big and not the most
attractive piece of furniture I'll ever own, but it's perfect.
I almost cried.
I have a recliner! Thank you,
sogwife! I love it so much.
Now I need a laptop. :-)

Date: 2008-01-15 04:49 pm (UTC)When I lived in Columbus, I had a wonderful fake-leather recliner that some friends helped me salvage from beside a dumpster. Rather than make room for it in the full truck when I moved out of my apartment, I kept it in my furniture-free last summer there along with the old futon and then left it beside another dumpster. I hope someone else adopted it.
