When I got together with cute-poet-chick, she had one chair in her living
room, big enough for just her. I bought us a sofa, but I started to
really miss the recliner I'd had at my previous place, so I started
lobbying for a recliner. I'm only truly comfy in a reclined, feet-up
position, but she didn't want one because it would be big and ugly and
expensive, so I never got one.

Since I met [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, I've had essentially the same problem.
When we have money, it usually goes for something more urgent, and [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy doesn't want something big and ugly and expensive in
the living room. He kept proposing cheap Ikea pseudo-recliners, but those
things aren't comfortable for me, so I just skipped it, figuring I'd
manage it when I could.

Well, yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] sogwife got me a recliner. She kept her eyes
open on Freecycle, requested and didn't get one in December (I'm actually
glad, because it was leather), and then got the one she brought home last
night. It's *great*. Very comfy, and [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy doesn't love
it, but he doesn't think it's hideous. It's big and not the most
attractive piece of furniture I'll ever own, but it's perfect.

I almost cried.

I have a recliner! Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] sogwife! I love it so much.

Now I need a laptop. :-)

I hope this doesn't mean you will recline less at our house now that you have you're own! ;-)

Congrats on adding more comfort and joy in your life provided by sogwife courtesy of freecycle. Yay's all around!!!

How wonderful!

When I lived in Columbus, I had a wonderful fake-leather recliner that some friends helped me salvage from beside a dumpster. Rather than make room for it in the full truck when I moved out of my apartment, I kept it in my furniture-free last summer there along with the old futon and then left it beside another dumpster. I hope someone else adopted it.

Yay!! Sounds awesome.

If you just need a laptop I have an old one I could offer. It's heavy and about 5 years out of date, but it runs. It's yours if you want it.

Hooray for you!

My sweetie says she doesn't love me enough to let me get a recliner. :)

I've often though of how I'd love to get rid of our loveseat and chairs and just get a couple of recliners. Although it's not all that great for when/if you have guests over. When we get a house, I will be getting me a recliner.

Wow. Seriously? Gosh, that would be great, if you're sure you don't need it!

Seriously, it has been just sitting and waiting for an opportunity to recycle it, and I keep forgetting to actively do anything about it. Now we will just have to get it over to you...

If you're the most comfy in a recliner, then you should have one. You've got plenty of space in your living room for it! Especially since you gave away your second couch. What's more important than your comfort? (I do care about my space looking good - maybe I just don't think recliners are so ugly...)

Yay [livejournal.com profile] sogwife!

One of the best presents I ever got was the recliner [livejournal.com profile] housepet, [livejournal.com profile] gramina, and [livejournal.com profile] 14cyclenotes got me for my birthday one year.

Picture?

Also... I would love to have a double-reclining sofa, but the partner says "no way, too ugly." *sigh*

Now for me recliners are rarely comfortable. Glad you found one that was, comfort is a good thing!

Does it make your navel easier to gaze at?

What a fab present, what a lot of love and thought went into it.

Cool!

I had been wondering if your "LINER" in our (not loading at the moment) Scrabulous game would get turned into "RECLINER" at some point.
