i grew up on home-raised eggs, and now i get local eggs, so leaving eggs on the counter is pretty normal. but if i were buying factory eggs...i think i'd be a bit squeamish about not refrigerating them.
*heh*. yeah, i grew up not refrigerating eggs. but now i do, since i buy mostly eggs that have already been refrigerated, and i am distrusting of the large temperature change -- i worry it'd make them go bad more quickly.
eggs keep astoundingly long unrefrigerated. and with a little extra treatment one can make them go even longer (as people who cruise long-distance on boats know).
