Happy talk keep talking happy talk
Dec. 11th, 2008 12:15 pmThings that make me happy, day 2:
1) Canned spaghetti and meatballs
2) Picking the raffle winner for a prize at work (students filled out an
evaluative survey about the program I work for; one of them just won $100
for doing so)
3) "Happy Talk" earworm (Yes, bad earworms make me happy. Don't tell anyone.)
4) A job where "May I skip our weekly standing meeting to drive the
munchkin to the airport?" is *always* going to be answered with some
variation of "Oh, yes, of course, don't be silly!"
5) At least once a week (including today and this past Tuesday), a boss
tells me, "Now that *you're* here, we can $[Ambitious and moderately
important project they never had time/skills to get around to before]."
6) Annie Lennox on Daily Mayo, classily declining to respond to a listener
who said that patronizing do-gooders like her are largely at fault for the
AIDS crisis in South Africa, because they encourage people to depend on
others rather than solving their problems themselves.
