Since I got online in 1998, the longest time I've been offline was probably the three weeks I spent in Tokyo. I suffered no withdrawal pains. I didn't find it liberating. It was just what it was, and I didn't mind, nor did I come home and decide that the internet was totally irrelevant in my life or anything.

I guess I just am just really adaptable, and not terribly change-averse. Plus, I'm a little detached by nature.  I don't tend to miss things (or people) when they're not around.

When I was first online, and falling in love with TOTGA, if my internet went out for FIVE FREAKING MINUTES I would hyperventilate and cry or go drive to a then-expensive internet cafe. I was completely addicted, both to TOTGA and to the new-to-me phenomenon of the internet. These days, not so much.

I'll have to re-read your experiences in Tokyo... just how did you manage to pull that off?

It was a work trip. One of the students where I work was going on an exchange trip to Tokyo and was having trouble finding a personal assistant, so my boss, whose job is was to help people find such assistants, asked me if I (I was the receptionist at the time) was interested in an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan. I said yes immediately and went and applied for a passport.

Oh, and I didn't post much about it, but there are two posts here (http://serenejournal.livejournal.com/tag/tokyo), including one with pics.

Oh, also... now that I'm going to have a bit of time on my hands, I'd like to come by for a day long visit, if that's alright with you. It would be great to just hang with you, go for walks, play games, cook, eat... etc.

B's spending a solid three day workshift next Friday - Sunday (not tomorrow). Maybe I could drop down there Saturday??

Would that be okay? I don't want to be entertained, I just want to hang out and just be.

Ah. Well, if something like that comes up and you aren't able to do it, let me know - all of a sudden I find myself free and unfettered.

It's funny - I'm sad that I'm leaving, but I feel light and free.

Oh, sweetie, with the state I'm in these days, I'm good for maybe an hour around people-who-are-not-James. I'm sorry. Please do come for a while, but I'm afraid I'd be a gibbering idiot if I had to visit with *anyone* for longer than an hour or two.

We have it, and the regular one, too. Fluxx is something I could play every day, so please do come by and play with us some time! *hugs*
