Friday Five
1. Television these days seems to be a staple in a child's life -- in many ways, it's always been a part of a kid's day or weekend. Did you watch television as a child?
Gotta laugh at that "always." Anyway, yes, we watched TV, but for four years we lived overseas, and watched almost none. (Cartoons in Spanish on Saturday mornings are all I remember seeing on our TV at home.
What shows were your favorites?
Sesame Street and the Electric Company tied for first. And maybe Zoom. Also-rans were the Picture-Picture segment on Mister Rogers, HR Pufnstuf, Donny & Marie, Sonny & Cher, the Smothers Brothers, Schoolhouse Rock! (I know, it's not a show per se, but still), Baby Huey cartoons.
Describe your most vivid television memory from childhood.
There are two. I remember in Spain, going to the Enlisted Men's Club with my sister and watching tapes of Sonny & Cher and Donny & Marie. Then they would show some horror thing like Kingdom of the Spiders or It or Empire of the Ants or Dracula 1976, and I would get scared shitless.
The other memory I have is of our school in Spain showing us Roots over the course of two school weeks, and some of my friends' parents keeping them home from it.
2. Saturday morning cartoons have changed a lot in the past 30 years. What were your favorite shows? Why?
I guess Baby Huey and Schoolhouse Rock! Why? Why not?
What cartoon character did you love the most?
Either Baby Huey or Yakky Doodle
Which one did you hate?
Yosemite Sam

3. If you have children, work with children, or have friends/relatives with children, what are their favorite television shows?
Munchkin the Elder: Pokemon, Digimon, DragonBallZ
Munchkin the Younger: doesn't watch TV much, but seems to like things zir friends like
Which shows make you stop and scratch your head in amazement, either because they're funny, weird, or just out there?
