7am: They start replacing mom's knees (both of them). 10am: finished. 12:30pm: she's in her room. 4pm, and I am not making this up: the nurses have to tell her to stop showing off as she's *dancing a jig*! Tell me my mom isn't part superhero! She has a nickel bet with her doctor that she'll be home by Monday. Now she's walked a couple times already and is thinking more like Sunday.

Wowza! That's great! I will also tell it to my neighbor, who is thinking about the op but worried about recovery time.

Her pain today is bad. The second day is always the worst because the anaesthesia has worn off. But still, she can stand and take a step or two, after just a day, so that rocks.

I have heard nothing but good about knee replacement surgery, and the recovery time is apparently pretty short. In fact, in a few days the knee is so much better than what it was like before surgery that the people I've known who've done it wonder why they didn't do it ages before.
