serene | Tattoo ponderings (Reply)

Been thinking for a while about getting a tattoo. Well, three tattoos, really, but I mightn't get all three. It's just that I have three pictured in my head. One is the line drawing of a goddess that cute-poet-chick draws, and I see that on my flank or the small of my back, maybe. The second is some kind of lace or vine or other ornamental thingy on my "ribbon," a long, wide, satiny scar that goes from my sternum to my pubic bone. The third is a meandering vine, similar to that seen here (NOT worksafe). We'll see. I get tired of my hairstyle after a couple of weeks, so I've always been nervous about permanent bodymod, but then I got to thinking how much I love my ribbon of scar, and I've had that a dozen years. How much more might I love something I choose for myself, rather than something that was thrust upon me? (Though the answer to that might be "Not much, because the ribbon carries no possibility of self-recrimination.")

Must ponder more, but I've already located the studio I want to use if I use one, so I have the feeling this will happen sooner or later.
