It's hard when you have someone who won't let you move anything out of the way. I do find, though, that as the rest of the house gets more comfy (because it's less decluttered), James has started going through some of his stuff to see what he can winnow down. I hope that happens with Mike, but if it doesn't, halfway less cluttered is still better.
