I have to admit that drafting my beds list was part of what gave me an idea for new year's travel. So mine should be a tiny bit longer than yours - unless there's freezing rain, in which case no way am I going any further than my couch.

I have such a romanticized feeling for severe weather, because I was 7 or 8 the last time I had to deal with it at all. Little kids just get the fun parts of snow and sleet; they don't have to drive to work or shovel driveways.

I still remember being about six, when Dad couldn't get the car out, so he walked to the grocery store with his big camping backpack and came home with food. Dad made it sound like a huge adventure, which is how he did things (like when he was driving the car while Mum was giving birth in the back seat ...), but in hindsight it was probably quite troublesome for the grownups.

I still really like it once there's no hard decision-making about whether to go somewhere, or unless the decision-making falls on the side of, it won't be easy but I need to go anyway.
