Okay, people, it's really real. The Nomad No-Mic Open Reading is on for sure!

Starting September 8th, Thursday nights will be acoustic spoken-word (poetry and short prose pieces -- no music) readings at the Nomad in North Oakland (just down the street from the Starry Plough).
Signups will be at 6:30. Open reading will start at 7. Feature at 7:30, then more open reading.
I really really really hope y'all will come out and support both me and spoken word in general. The East Bay is a great place with a great deal of excellent performance poets, and this thing has the potential to be really outstanding.

First ten people to come and mention it to me on September 8th get a free cup of coffee or two bucks toward whatever you'd rather drink. Come on, free coffee? Poetry? Watching me be silly on stage? What could be better?

[Edit: And if you know one of those excellent performance poets, and think they might want to feature at the reading, have them send email to serene@serenepages.org. Thanks!]

[Again, apologies to non-local folks; I have no SFBay filter.]

Tomorrow night, I will be at the Temescal Cafe (on Telegraph Ave in North Oakland, around 50th or so) for their spoken-word event. Come hang out, come drink coffee, come see if Serene has written any new poems by then. (The cafe also has yummy food and wireless internet access, if that matters to ya.)
