High.

I'm high from this day, and at the same time, I'm utterly exhausted and drained of almost every bit of social energy. What a wonderful, wonderful day!

Spent the morning and part of the afternoon walking around Berkeley with [livejournal.com profile] elissaann and [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy. Fun walk, lots of strange foods to make Elissa try, and a generally good time. She's fun and a good conversationalist, and quite adorable in her energetic passion about so many cool things. And did I mention the food? Fed her artichoke/rosemary bread, gelato, and boba tea, among other things. It was fun to see the look on her face when she encountered her first tapioca ball. (Hey, local alt.polyites -- wanna have an Elissa-flock?)

Then this evening, we went to the Temescal Cafe for a spoken-word thing. It was fun. [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and [livejournal.com profile] loracs and [livejournal.com profile] jwermont were there! I read a couple of my poems, and that was a blast. I signed a couple of poets to feature at my own reading (the one that starts on September 8th, and to which I hope all my local friends will try to come). I left there feeling like I would burst out of my skin from happy excitement, and as I'm coming down, the happy excitement is turning to happy exhaustion. That works for me.

Am supposed to help [livejournal.com profile] wordweaverlynn pack boxes tomorrow, but not sure I have an ounce of physical/social energy left in me. I hope to feel better in that arena by tomorrow, but if not, I'm hoping to help her out at some later date. I'm so excited that she's found a space she loves, and that it will be nearer to me me me.

I mean, maybe there are. There are probably better things than boyfriends who make garlic popcorn for you (or, for that matter, send you popcorn in the mail). Just now I'm having trouble thinking of one. Just sayin'.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, popcorn.

We had to do laundry, and we happened to be there at farmer's market time, so we wandered through the aisle of deliciousness. [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy got himself a basket of strawberries, and I bought a bag of mixed greens for a dollar. Behind the cut is a picture of the lunch I made. For both of us, rice and a mixed-green salad with homemade vinaigrette and rye-bread croutons. For [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, a filet of salmon with a honey-mustard glaze. Pretty and yummy.
