Those of you who had said they would/might come here Sunday and help paint? I think, considering what the weekend temperatures are going to be, we should postpone until we have cooler weather. It's simply going to be too hot to ask anyone (including me!) to climb up and down ladders, wield paintbrushes, and take in paint fumes.

So we'll do it another time, or y'all can do it while I'm in Tokyo, okay?

lesbian aloe), Giuseppi, Blanche, Joan, etc.

So much. Macroeconomics. Petty theft. Any language other than the two
or three that I speak. Why a person can be impeached for sexual
misconduct and not for lies that result in thousands upon thousands of
deaths.

2. Name someone in your life with blue eyes.

stonebender. Not just blue. Startling blue.

3. When is a lie not really a lie?

Never. If you're asking if it's okay to lie, that's a whole other question.

4. When is the last time you got really dirty?

Hmm. *Really* dirty? Probably all the way back when we cleaned out sogwife's mom's place.

5. Are you a lefty or a righty?

Boring question. Pass.

Two things (for now)

1) From a comment in someone else's journal, asking how the folks on his friendslist are doing: "In a surprisingly amazingly good mood. Long, hot week full of frustrations seems to have fallen away and made room for my general joy about my life." Just so ya know.

can't buy me integrity

I've been a temp for most of my life. Almost said "most of my adult life,"
but I started temping when I was 16. In all that time, I've had two
policies:

1) I never work for free.

2) I never accept pay for hours I haven't worked (beyond the contracted
four-hour minimum, and even then, I offer to work the hours, or if I like
the employer, I just waive the minimum).

This means that I often have situations like today. The boss is closing
the office an hour early, and he made it clear to me that the department
would pay me for that hour. I presented my timecard to him just now with
39 hours on it, instead of 40, along with a note thanking him for the
offer, but telling him it's unnecessary.

He was really confused, and I told him about my two policies. He doesn't
understand why I wouldn't just take the money.

I figure that I buy more with that fourteen dollars (gross) than money can
buy. I buy my integrity, along with clear evidence to my employer that I
am the kind of person who's not out to take advantage.

That's priceless.
