So tomorrow, I head to San Francisco (the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy is gonna drive me to Burlingame, actually), and then the next day we all[*] fly to Japan. I'm neither nervous nor excited, as I don't tend to be until liftoff -- the steady work of getting ready for the trip tends to soak up that energy.

I'll try to remember to turn all my listservs off, but y'all? Y'all should keep writing and writing as if your lives depended on it, so that I have lots to read when I get home, because really, it's all about me me me. I'll be coming home early Thursday morning, and then I'll have until Monday before work. I imagine a fair bit of that will be spent prone, either sleeping or otherwise, and/or catching up on Usenet/LJ.

The thing that's currently getting me is the thought of sixteen days without my loves. I'll totally be fine, as will they, but I'm having a little separation anxiety. :-)

In the morning, I will print out the post where you tell me where to send you tacky postcards, so if you meant to do that, please do it tonight, or send me an email by the morning (California time).

I am not expecting to be online at all while I'm gone. I will, however, be taking two writing journals, and I hope to fill at least one of them. I have an idea for a novel that has nothing to do with Japan, and we'll see where it goes.

Have a ton of fun this month, everyone. I'll be back on the 17th.

[*] "We all" being eleven college students, five staffers, and two personal assistants (me and another woman).

Behind the cut, a few photos of the garden. The ones of the tomato flowers and the Chinese broccoli didn't come out, but here are five photos of what I've come to call "my plant babies". [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy is going to watch over them while I'm gone, and when I get back, I'm hoping for some tomatoes, at the very least. Looks like the beets will really yield, too. Here's hoping!

Plant babies! )

I'm missing some friends' birthdays while I'm gone! Among them:

[livejournal.com profile] lyrical1, love you lots! Have as good a birthday as you are a person

[livejournal.com profile] simplykimberly: Here's wishing you whatever you want, even if you never want to see another birthday cake again. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] lcohen, I adore you. Be well. Be happy. Be musical.

[livejournal.com profile] the_ogre, have a really great birthday. You deserve it after the challenging year you've had.

[livejournal.com profile] twostepsfwd, glad we met. Have a fabulous time!

and [livejournal.com profile] calebbullen, keep it surreal. Happy birthday, and happy podcasts.
