Sep. 3rd, 2006 02:18 pm1) I always thought I didn't like strawberries. Then I moved to somewhere where they grow. Oh, man.
2) Temescal DMV farmer's market is pretty damn good. Almost as good as San Diego's DMV farmer's market. Walked around there with
sogwife this morning while
someotherguy was sleeping off the earache that kept him up last night. Got some nostalgia for walking around San Diego's with cute-poet-chick.
3) Our haul: A few pounds of yummy (and cheap!) heirloom tomatoes; a cucumber; a big old fennel bulb (haven't roasted fennel before -- any tips?); a bunch of strawberries; some baby squashes; maybe some other stuff, but that's the bulk of it. I just ate one of the tomatoes and one of the strawberries, and blessed the day I moved from the desert to the fertile land.
4) Today, I shall endeavor to finish at least half of the poems-for-hire, and then finish the other half tomorrow. Besides housework, that's the only thing on my agenda today.
5) Thursday night, I leave for Portland. Be back Sunday. If you're in the area on Saturday, we'd love to see you at
snippy's place. Send email to me or her if you need more info.

Sep. 3rd, 2006 05:32 pmOne of the things I missed most in Japan was the opportunity to cook. I was fed really well, but I didn't get to cook the whole time. This weekend, I'm having fun making up for it. Made beef stroganoff last night, and today, I'm making homemade seitan for dinner (probably sweet-and-sour), along with some roasted fennel and baby squash.
I do love being fed, but I also adore feeding people.
