in with the old, in with the new
Jan. 2nd, 2007 01:55 pmI don't do resolutions or recriminations, as a rule. I liked a lot about
2006, and I liked how I approached it, so 2007 is likely to be a lot more
of the same.
Good stuff:
I learned to knit, became my own boss, worked as an election inspector (got the $20 bonus for
turning everything in, too), baked a bunch of bread, took a lot of walks,
kept connected with my mom and the Munchkins, spent a lovely evening as
one half of
baby_fly's first babysitting team, became a veg-head
again, read a few good books and a ton of cookbooks and cooking blogs,
set healthy boundaries in the face of strong resistance, kept my
commitments, earned my keep, and had lots of good sex (and some really
incredibly great sex).
Bad stuff:
Eh. Who remembers? The charming thing about being me is that the good
stuff tends to crowd out the bad stuff in my mind. I'm a very lucky
airhead indeed. Someone once told me that I am too invested in making my
life seem easy to people. Maybe so, but how it feels in my head is that
my life IS, for the most part, easy, because I am good at making it so.
The hard stuff certainly stands out in strong relief against the easy
stuff, but I've set up my life so that the easy stuff wins most of the
time.
