Mar. 15th, 2007 06:48 amFirst time I've pulled an all-nighter in a while. My work is done, but my ass is sore. :-)
The sweetest kitty ever may have congestive heart failure or cancer. The former means meds. The latter we don't want to think about. Poor Dude.
someotherguy will be home in an hour. Wondering if I should even bother trying to sleep before he gets home.
Life is good. Don't let me forget when I'm whiny that life is really good. Hard, sometimes, but good nonetheless.

Mar. 15th, 2007 01:06 pmIf you like eating dead pig, tonight would be the night to just drop by my place. The pork roast I bought was too big for my slow-cooker, so now I have a garlicky pork roast in the oven, and the other half in the slow-cooker with sauerkraut, onions, and apples.
I think the last time I cooked this much meat, I was feeding a birthday party full of people.
Oy.
Well, at least I made my mom happy by calling her for cooking advice. She loves that shit.

Mar. 15th, 2007 09:22 pmJust finished the invoice for the big contract job. Totalling both invoices, I came in at 52.5% of the original budget max agreed on. Sure, I could've found ways to bill more hours and make more on this project, but the hourly rate was really good (only $5 per hour less than my optimal charge rate, and this client was one I knew I wouldn't have to chase for the money). Besides, maybe next time they need someone to do this kind of work, the guy will think, "Hey, Serene did that for us last time, and not only did she finish on time, she did it cheaply."
That's the hope, anyway.
Anyway, I'm happy, and I'm getting better at estimating things -- when we first had talks, I told the guy that I'd be surprised if I didn't come in well under budget.
So long as I'm making enough to make my bills and buy food, I've got enough money, and lately, it looks like that might become the default state, instead of the last year or so when a dollar was usually obtained by cushion-diving or borrowing 99 cents from family.
I know that those of you who have lived check-to-check (probably most of the people I know) will know what kind of relief is building in me.
