Pandora just fed me "First of May", which is delightful and I love it...

...but it makes a hell of a workspace earworm.

Soup!

someotherguy is sick today, and I know how sucky that feels, so I stopped at the store on the way home to get him some comfort food. Espresso-chocolate-chip cookies, and the makings for soup. LOTS of soup. This will be the weekend of soup, I'm thinking.

I got chicken necks and backs for stock. I got a big chuck roast. I got peeled shrimp on sale for five bucks a pound, score. I got a ton of veggies, including lemongrass. I got coconut milk. I got bacon and potatoes and heavy cream.

Right now, in my fridge, there are two quarts of beef stew and two of tom kha (with chicken and shrimp, but I forgot the lime juice, so it's yummy but a little flat), along with another two quarts of the way too much gravy from the stew -- that's what's left after the three of us stuffed ourselves silly with soup and stew and bread and butter. Tomorrow, I'll also make potato soup with bacon, and the munchkin and I are gonna make green-tea ice cream.

It's the Weekend of Soup!

Right now, I'm kinda wishing dbubley were home so I could take her some soup, especially since they're both lactose-free. Wonder if I could smuggle some into the hospital.
