1) Mad science wins again:
someotherguy and I drink a lot of tomato juice. A couple years ago, we noticed that all the tomato juice we buy was (a) getting really expensive, and (b) made from concentrate. So we fomented a plan to make our own. After a few false starts,
someotherguy made the perfect batch of tomato juice from 1 8-ounce can of tomato paste (the kind with no seasonings in it), 4 cans of water, and a heaping plastic teaspoon (we'll have to measure that more accurately) of salt. This stuff is really good, and it costs (and weighs!) a fraction of what we were paying (and carrying home). (Cost of one can of tomato paste: about 80 cents or less, depending. Cost of the equivalent amount of store-bought tomato juice: about $1.50 on sale.) Yay!
2) My what-I-did-today lists may start looking like today's for a while:
* Went to work
* Slept for a really long time
* Stared at brainless web content for hours while trying to convince myself to finish laying out the magazine
* Ate lots of pudding
* (oops -- also went to the bank and the post office)
Except for the part where it's becoming more urgent that I finish the magazine if I want to get it out on time, I'm okay with that. As
mactavish put it, it's Take Care of Serene Month, and I'm not so obsessed about the magazine that I can't recognize that it comes second to my health. (I'm pretty obsessed about it, though.)
3) I'm going to be working for one of the students at work, reading for him while he takes the Bar exam. I've always been curious about what goes on during that exam, and now I'll find out. He also has a test this Saturday (the Bar isn't until July), so I've got an appointment to practice with him tomorrow, and then read for him on Saturday. Should be interesting. I should try to remember to take a bottle of water with me.
