I have to say
my training was successful
I say please and thank you
I open the door for people
whose packages totter and threaten to leave
their arms
I don't belch in public

but I also don't react when you shriek at
your child to go to fucking bed already
or you swear she will be sorry she didn't

the one who trained me was a lot like you;
are you surprised?
