November, FYI
Oct. 31st, 2003 09:01 amJust sent this in email to a bunch of people, but I'll post it here, too, just in case:
For those of you who don't already know, I'll be participating in National Novel Writing Month (http://www.nanowrimo.org) throughout the month of November. I am hoping to finish by the 25th, which means I will need to write 2,000 words a day, on average. This means I have vastly scaled back my other time commitments, and I will be spending two-plus hours a day in local coffeeshops making this thing happen. I won't be available for much else, because housework and sleep and work still have to figure in there somewhere.
People have asked me why I'm doing it, and the short answer is that I want to see if I have what it takes to sit down, write every day, and make my writing a priority. Plus, it's fun.
(The other novel I am working on is a separate project, and perhaps after this month of writing flurry, I will be ready to go back and make something acceptable out of it.)
Starting tomorrow, information about my progress on the novel will be available at http://nanowrimo.org/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=7168
Personal email is always welcome, and I'll do my best to respond to everything; it's initiating stuff that seems to be a problem when I'm very busy, and I wanted you all to know that I will be thinking of you, even in my relative silence. Wish me luck.
