alanbostick gave me some of his sourdough starter! I'm busy reading the instructions so I can learn its proper care and feeding, but just imagine how honored I am.

Ooooh, go you! I had a sourdough phase - it's not all that difficult to look after and the bread is yummy. I had to give up on mine eventually as my kitchen is tiny, only 6 feet square, and the smell was just too pungent in such a confined space. Hope you have fun with your starter - just remember to replenish it when you use some and it will be happy!
