the pain is a lot worse today (to be expected), and I had nightmares about running red lights. The very worst part of this for me is the thought that I could have been so careless as to do that. I sure hope I didn't. I mean, I'll cope if I did, but gah.

Sweetie, for what it's worth, I'm betting you didn't. And will you ever really know?

That's a good question. I saw the CHP officer interview a witness; I don't know what the witness said. The question for me is, I guess, if they say I did it, where do I go emotionally from there? (I want to know, too, what will happen to me legally and financially, but that's secondary.) I am not bad at accepting blame when I am to blame, but when things happen so fast, I don't think anyone's perception is really to be trusted. At any rate, I will move on, but I'm really good at second-guessing myself and beating myself up, and I am trying not to give myself too big a head-start on that, if that makes sense.

Yow, this all sounds like Really No Fun at all. Glad you're okay though. *hug*

And about the light -- well, probably you didn't do it, but if you did, well, mistakes happen. Don't beat yourself up about it.

*hugs*

I wonder how many of your friends have run red lights or been at fault in traffic accidents. I'm willing to bet it's rather a lot of people. If you wouldn't second-guess them or beat them up, then maybe you shouldn't do it to yourself either.

And I find myself wondering if you're taking enough / the right kind of pain killers (assuming they work for you).

Yeah, me too -- Once I looked at a green arrow and saw it as a green go-ahead, and did, into the path of an oncoming car. We both got out of the way in time. I've changed lanes into someone else -- just in front -- a couple of scary times. I wonder if anyone hasn't.
