1. I have kicked ass today at work.

2. Chest still hurts; will go to the doctor Monday if it's still ouchy.

3. [livejournal.com profile] stonebender is gonna help me get shoes for the new job, about which I am so extremely excited. I wanted more time at home, and now I'm gonna get it!

4. I am also so excited that several of you joined the Alameda Poly Meetup group. Any excuse to see more of my friends, and it warms my heart to see that so many of you are supporting me in my little project (because, of course, it's all about me me me).

5. Orphans' Thanksgiving is on for T-Day. More details to follow, but the basics are that if you don't have family nearby, or just want to be somewhere else for Thanksgiving, shoot me an email so I can invite you to our place.

6. Also coming up: Craft night at my place with [livejournal.com profile] sogwife. If you want to be sure you're invited, let me know. Otherwise, it'll be posted here and on Wombat and elsewhere.

7. A partner has a new health concern. There's a way I can help, and I'm gonna, so I'm concerned, but not freaked.

8. [livejournal.com profile] sogwife's surgery went so well yesterday that her reaction was "Surgery? What surgery?" I'm SO relieved.

Thanks again to those of you who joined the meetup. I hope it'll be a fun group.

It's the third Friday evening of every month; next one is November 19th. Info is here.

Cool! I can't make it this month (having people over that night), but I've put it on our family calendar for December and following. Okay if I drag [livejournal.com profile] sogwife along?

The more, the merrier! I usually post a week or two in advance to remind people or announce if there's a reschedule, but I don't anticipate that happening anytime soon.

Orphans' might be fun, but I want to ask what may be a tacky question. Forgive me, but will there be turkey?

From: [identity profile] serenejournal.livejournal.com
It's not a tacky question (or at least I don't find it to be). In fact, we discussed it at length last night or the night before. None of us cares much one way or the other, so we thought of asking the attendees how they felt. For me, holiday dinners are all about the side dishes (and I was a vegetarian for most of my life); for [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, the menu doesn't matter much, and for [livejournal.com profile] sogwife, a bird is traditional, but she's not all that tied to tradition. If you'd like to come (that's the generic you -- anyone can chime in), and you have a preference, please let us know -- if you don't want to see a dead animal on the groaning board, you'll free up our oven. If Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving without the turkey, we'll stuff and truss.

I confess that with my dietary needs leaning toward protein, the turkey would be a lovely thing to see. If I had an oven big enough, I'd take care of it for you. I can only at most roast a goose.

Though I should also note that turkey itself isn't mandatory. Just that my body has a bias toward dead critter and green things for nutrition. Perhaps a different protein source that would be easier to wrangle... *ponders*

Then unless someone writes and says "I'm coming, but the presence of turkey will greatly upset/sicken/kill me", we'll have a turkey. Also, we have planned to include in the invitation some verbiage like this:

"{FITB} will be our menu, and this is not a potluck -- come as you are, no contribution required. However, if there's anything you find traditional, anything that makes Thanksgiving for you, and you want to bring it, please do, or let us know what it is, and we'll do our best to make it for you."

But turkey is *easy*. :-)

(And we are likely to have other proteiny goodness, but yeah, turkey is easy.)

Craft night, yes.

Thanksgiving, likely (there are a couple of folks doing orphan thanksgivings, and I've not heard the definitive date on another one). I'm a vegetarian, but its fine with me if there is turkey *there*. Just not on my plate.

and I look forward to an oppportunity to meet [livejournal.com profile] sogwife.

I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] rmjwell on Sunday, and gathered that you'd mentioned me to him. Much amusement followed from that meeting (details in a comment on his LJ post of 10/24).

I'll put you on my little list for notifications about craft night and Thanksgiving. I don't recall what I said to RJ, but I take responsibility for every word. ;-)
