Mom's home

Got to San Diego around 7 on Tuesday; 68 and partly cloudy turned into a lightning storm on our way home, but it never really rained much. Today, it was back to being OMG hot.

Mom's surgery went better than expected. None of the things he thought it might be (which all involved leaving her with open wounds to deal with after surgery) turned out to be the case. It was a big mass of scar tissue, which he removed, and then he stitched her up, so she's home already and doing really well, though she's still sore, of course.

We enjoy each other's company, which is not to minimize how much I miss my home. Tonight, we got a few hours to ourselves, and we spent it just hanging out in the same room. I read and caught up with my boyfriends; she played bridge online.

Being here without the awful sibling is SO SO SO much more peaceful. We get to just go about our days without the massive dramatics and flakiness and outright rudeness, and my mom is so much calmer. It's still not my house, and I miss being in my house, but it's a pleasant visit instead of a nightmare.

And tonight I got to cook for everyone, so that was nice.

How is YOUR week so far?

I'm glad it's more peaceful and that the surgery was less traumatic than it might have been and hope that the peace will help the recovery.

Glad things are going well - my week is going OK, thanks. I managed to negotiate with the garage and get a problem with our car fixed yesterday - this was something that had resulted from work they did when they serviced the car in August and they corrected the problem without charging us. I had to drop the car off and walk home (about half a mile) and then had to walk down later to pick it up again. I've been a bit sore since, but nothing dramatic. :-) Oh, and I picked up my knitting again yesterday for the first time since surgery. :-))

So glad that it seems like good news for your Mom! :)

I'm deep in Discardia, getting ready for new adventures this / next month and in 2010, and feeling the twinges of another flare-up of RSI, so not so much typing for me!

It could be better. [profile] dbubley just got picked up by ambulance. Her back was in too much pain for her to stand and she thinks she has a UTI. [personal profile] loracs went with her. Fun, fun, fun
