I haven't been posting much here or my blog because I'm wintry and cocoony and have been spending most of my time in either keeping my house or playing mindless computer games (not exactly something I do frequently). Some notes, though, because I realized I hadn't written much lately, and there are little bits of news.

Two years ago yesterday, I got what appeared to be a wannafuck in my email. The subject line was "Introduction from someotherguy on livejournal", and I didn't really understand what that meant. I was going to delete it, but I read it instead, and it was a very respectful introduction.

The guy asked if there were any local atheist meetings (which I've now discovered was the closest he felt comfortable coming to "nice shoes; wanna fuck?" ;-), and I said that yes, there was one the next night, and I'd go if he did. And the rest is history, and the rest is joy, and the story of the beginning of a life with an incredible, lovely man. Happy anniversary, [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy. I adore you.

Next on the list is that a family member is seriously ill, and there's a chance I'll have to rush out of town suddenly. Let's hope all is well and no one has to rush anywhere.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy is having some relatively minor surgery on Friday. I may or may not have time and/or social energy this weekend, and that could depend, as well, on the family member mentioned above.

My stepmom called today and didn't leave a message. Not sure why, because she's a fairly direct person as a rule, but I haven't spoken with her or my father in months, and I don't know whether or not to call her.

Work is fine. The job isn't fascinating, but I'm good at it and enjoy it fine. I am working for a company that runs ten fast-food chicken restaurants in the Bay Area. I love the schedule (three days a week) and the people are nice to me.

Money will be very tight for a while, and I'm fine with that. Our bills are being paid, I am good at living on a shoestring, and I'm happier than I've ever been in my life. Things are okay. Just expect me to decline invitations that will involve my spending money. Feel free to invite yourself over to coffee/tea instead, if you feel like socializing with me.

[livejournal.com profile] sogwife is going to make a concerted effort to move herself down here sooner rather than later. We live in North Oakland, and she'd like (and we'd like for her) to be as close to us as possible. Keep your eyes open for opportunities for her to rent a room or rooms or an apartment or a house or whatever, please, if you would.

In that vein, if you know of work for a pagan chick with a crafty streak and good office skills, please let us know.

I am looking for ways to increase the priority I put on sitting my ass in the chair and writing. One thing I would like to do is to find a good regular poetry (or general spoken-word) reading near my house. I will search and see what La Pena and Pegasus and those kinds of folks are up to, but if you know of anything, please let me know.

Today, just so you know, my sink is not gleaming. There are dishes undone, and the house is a little messy, and I am in a vegetative state and don't care much. I amuse myself, though, because I felt like I wanted to post that trivial bit of information that no one cares about.

Eating really good veggie soup I just made myself. In related news, parsnips are weird.

Alt.polycon will be in Octoberish in San Diego. I'm VERY excited. Now to get all the alt.polyites and former alt.polyites that I want to see to come all the way the hell down to my old hometown. It's a great town, and it'll be gorgeous that time of year. Ask the wombabes how hot it is down there at that time of year, and then remember that when they were there, there was no air conditioning.

Wow, I am utterly unfettered in my rambling tonight.

I miss cute-poet-chick a lot this week, and part of me thinks that people are probably sick of hearing about that.

I look really hot in the black velvet minidress Carol gave me. I wore it today with black opaque stockings, and I felt like I should be in a '60s girl band, only with a goth twist.

And now I'm eating vegan chocolate chips and chopped toasted almonds. I don't want my family member to die. I don't want her to be in pain. Therefore, I'm eating chocolate. See?

Good night, all. I'm feeling very loving towards you all right now. I'm gonna go play Super Collapse some more. I just beat my high score.

On the writing thing, C says:

I think what works best for me, is getting to writing first thing in the day. Being my first priority in the day makes it my first priority for the whole day. Even if I can only write for a short while before heading off to do other work, it keeps it at the top of my To Do list.
