Apr. 1st, 2005 03:31 pmTaking a quick break from straightening (cleaning is a bit strong a word) the apartment. Listening to Ani, letting myself feel both happy and stressed at the same time. Ani's good for that.
I now have SIX plants! The oldest one was a housewarming present (almost a year ago, from
eeyore_grrl, and the newest one was this week's tiny splurge (I think with
sogwife's employee discount, the plant, the pot, the tray, and the potting soil totalled eight dollars). His name is Rubio. The others are, eldest to youngest, Fern (a fern, natch), Blanche (a hanging plant with white flowers), Giuseppi (a green houseplant with silver veins), Scarlett (a discarded poinsettia), and Spike (an aloe -- Spike is a girl). I'm very happy that they are all alive and apparently thriving, especially since I moved them all into pots big enough for them. I have been known in the past to have a black thumb. I think living in the desert may have accounted for at least some of that, but clearly ignoring my plants for weeks on end was part of it, too. I don't ignore my plants nowadays, and they're such a joy to me.
