Work stuff
Apr. 15th, 2005 08:36 pmCan you tell I'm catching up on posts I've been meaning to make?
Work is weird right now. There's some personal stuff going on with the boss, and things have been tense, uncomfortable, and potentially volatile for the last couple of weeks. I may bail, but only if I have to (translation: only if it goes from potentially volatile to actually volatile). I love the schedule, but the commute sucks, I don't love the job (though I don't hate it), and I don't really click with any of the people.
In other news, I applied to be a barrista at Temescal Cafe. I doubt they'll even call me back (I'm so overqualified), but I did it because I want to start applying for jobs in my neighborhood that I can walk to and feel good about, and that was my first step in that direction. I would love to be car-free by the end of the year. I love my neighborhood, and I want to burrow in here and make it my full-time home.
In other other news, this week,
sogwife will be moving her computer to her place, which she's making all homey for herself, and when she does, I will make it a priority to fix up the desk as a writing desk. I think now that winter's over, I'm ready to treat writing as a job again. And
wild_irises and
firecat, I want to pick your brains about becoming a better copyeditor so I can start seeking out that kind of work, as well. (I've done copyediting and document QA for a living, but have never had any training at it. I also edited (and wrote for) my college newspaper, but I wouldn't call their standards very high, so I probably picked up some bad habits.)
