Went to let my mom buy me some lunch (she gave me a credit card for those
out-of-money moments, and until I get paid tomorrow night, those are all
the moments I have). On the way there, saw a man helping a woman across
the intersection. She was short of breath and her feet felt funny -- she
lived in the building on the corner, but couldn't even walk that far. I
went into the Gap (or something) and called 911, then went out, made her
sit on the ground, and waited with her and the man, who was her bewildered
partner, who had been trying to get her home (they live in the Gap
building) so he could research a doctor on the web. There wasn't time for
that. The paramedics came as she got a case of the chills. I hope she's
okay.

Then I went and had a swiss/mushroom/tomato crepe at Crepes-a-gogo, and it
was fine. The glass of carrot juice I had with it was better. I like the
idea of savory crepes, but had never had one before. It would probably be
even better with fresh crepes, rather than pre-made.

After work, [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy is gonna pick me up and we're gonna go
buy veggies for dinner. [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail plans to drop by, and I
plan to make my wheatberry salad and some salmon and roasted veggies.

There's a chain of breakfast-type places called Eggspectations or something like that. (?) We went to one in Montreal, and there's apparently one in Toronto. I don't know where else they are. Anyway, I had a freshly-made breakfast crepe there that was delicious. It had two kinds of cheese, asparagus, spinach, broccoli and onions, I think? I might be remembering wrong -- it's possible that it didn't have broccoli. I've been dying to have another since.

I love savory crepes! I should take you to the public market in Emeryville. They have a crepe place there that cooks the whole thing right in front of you. My favorite crepes place went away when I wasn't looking.

Ooh, yes, that'd be lovely. Some day when I have an actual day off, maybe? ;-)

Love you. Miss you.

I looked up the restaurant in my earlier comment. They have nine locations in Canada, all in Ontario and Quebec. They have an unknown number of U.S. locations, all in Maine and Maryland. (Unknown because their U.S. website is broken.) And then they have one location in New Delhi, India. So... yeah.

If you look at this portion of their online menu (http://www.eggspectation.ca/menumtl_crepesbret.html), I had the "Vegetable Dream," crepe bretonne, which is mushrooms, spinach, sweet red onions, asparagus, and three cheeses. So much for my memory. :)

There's a place in the Mission District called Ti Couz (16th between Guerrero and Valencia) that does dynamite buckwheat crepes both savory and sweet. They don't appear to have a website, but there's a review here. (http://cuisinenet.com/info/?v=237&/san_francisco/rest/comments/1777.shtml)

I *love* Ti Couz. And would be happy to, say, snag [livejournal.com profile] serenejournal and [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrrl and head to Ti Couz and Osento.

That would be great fun, but I am skeptical about our ability to find a time all three of us are free. I'm game, though.

I didn't say it was *practical*, mind you. No one every requested that my whims be confined to the practical.

If you're ever up here again with sogwife, I'll show you the place where (when I have cash to blow) I go for freshly made crepes. Yummers. They have a fantastic banana/brown sugar/fresh whipped cream crepe. Reminds me of B. Foster.

I soooo need to get a blowtorch for the kitchen.
