My life does not suck. I'm generally happy, and things (most things, anyway) are going well. There's just something that I don't have that I want, and that's not happymaking. But thank you for your concern, all, both here and in email. I'm really fine, just frustrated.

But I have ten pounds of meat marinating in the fridge, so how could life be bad? Or something. ;-)

That's pretty much what I thought you meant. Frustration still sucks and is still worthy of hugs.

Bad vegan! ;)

You & I are in exactly the same boat, then, with the frustration. See, this is why you're an inspiration: because I love the way you are able to say "This is a thing that is bad in my life, but I am aware that most of the things in my life are not bad, and I am coping." Often you even have strategies & stuff for coping. I just love the calm acceptance that sometimes life does not go smoothly. I want to get there. I have to fight my instincts to say "Aagh! Everything sucks!" and go hide under the bed.

I keep wondering about this new meat kink of yours.

I so appreciate the strokes, especially from someone who always strikes me as so together, if I may use a terribly dated word.

Geeking: I think that my equanimity is an accident of birth -- I don't seem able to sustain negative emotion. I've tried. I wish I could stay mad at my sister, for instance, but I have to stoke that particular furnace to keep from letting her walk all over me.

*grin* I know. I hated meat as a child -- mom used to have to hide it behind my fruit when I was a baby -- but grew up on a lot of processed meats that still say comfort to me. And even when I was a vegetarian/vegan for all those years, I was never grossed out by it, and always cooked it for others. Now I just make enough for me, too. :-)
