I've burbled about this before, but three years ago at this time, I was a nervous wreck. A few hours later, I was spilling all my nervous-wreckedness all over [livejournal.com profile] lcohen and her ex, while we waited for them to take me to the San Leandro BART station to meet [livejournal.com profile] stonebender for the first time. Our first date lasted four hours and was *perfect*. I still think about it every time I see Au Cocquelet in Berkeley.

I can't say enough times that [livejournal.com profile] stonebender came into my life at a time when I was fighting tooth-and-nail for my happiness, and reminded me that happiness could be easy. It saved my life, and he has stood beside me and helped me be happy ever since.

Yesterday was a nice anniversary date. I was pampered all day. First, [livejournal.com profile] loracs bought me yummy potato pancakes while we were out on our errands. Then I went and shopped for anniversary gifts before meeting [livejournal.com profile] stonebender after his meeting. We had lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon alternating sitting and talking with a little wandering and shopping. When we were done with the day's errands, we headed home and watched an hour of Lost, and I made dinner for myself and [livejournal.com profile] loracs ([livejournal.com profile] stonebender was still full of chorizo).

Lovely, lovely day. And he bought me a fondue pot!! I've wanted one of those for years. Who wants to come and have fondue at my place?

Happy anniversary! (Gee, that could sound like a description, or like good wishes. Oh well... I'll let the ambiguity stand, and hope it's taken as both.)

Oh no... so very wrong! Good quality sour cream only. Full fat, not the light or fat free kind too.

Applesauce I can allow, but it's not my personal preference.

In my family, applesauce was used for two things: latkes, and to dip pork chops in (pork chops were always prepared with Shake'n'Bake).

Ah..in our family applesauce was for snacking or for pork chops. My family sometimes used shake n' bake, but more often than not, they were just fried or BBQed (or schnitzeled, in which case nothing else was needed).

What does "schnitzeled" mean? (Yeah, I could google it, but who knows if they'll have what *your* family did?)

Well, in making weiner schnitzel, you take the pork cutlet and pound it with that spikey hammer thing until it's much thinner and then bread it (flour, egg, breadcrumbs) then fry until it's thoroughly cooked.

Man, I now have such a craving. If only we cooked meat at home. :/
