Poetry night
Jan. 14th, 2006 09:29 pmLet's see if I can remember all the highlights from last night:
leback, I'm sorry I didn't say goodnight to you guys. I thought you were walking back with us.
- driving there and back with
stonebender and
loracs - seeing
leback and her sweeties (and S, who has an LJ but I forgot its name) - seeing
vito_excalibur, who took a deserved break from writing grad-school applications, and who snrched the best line of the night ("H.P. Lovecraft has nothing on this person," or something close to that) - seeing
badgerbag (I'll correct that username if I've got it wrong), who organized the reading, read some good poems, and is a really interesting person - reading my poems, and actually enjoying that
- listening to the other poets and feeling like a writer, which is a feeling I like
- being told that my poems make it obvious that I live a life full of joy
- having a stranger play Chopin for me
- the incredible generosity of
leback, who drove 40 minutes extra to go get a book to give to the disabled students' program project (thanks to y'all, we're now completely caught up with the list) - walking to coffee/dessert/greek food with
leback and her sweetie and
badgerbag and my sweeties and
loracs (lowlight: two restaurants that had no interest in making room for our party, which was 6 + person in wheelchair) -- If you're in Palo Alto, Cafe 220 is a really great spot. You should go there. - Stumbling upon, and then participating in, a Capoeira circle. Exhilarating!
- salty yogurt drink
- yummy sex
- sleeping until 1

And it sounds like none of what I missed lived up to your performance anyway. Seeing you read was a terrific experience--I'm now doubly motivated to make it up to Nomad to see more sometime soon...
