I don't know what this says about me, but when I first saw this (before your earlier post, because of the way LJ works), I assumed you were being offered at least three months (my initial guess was a year) in Japan to be concerned about being away from home that long. I definitely think you should take it.

What I need to say, though, is that from your writing tone in this post, if I hadn't already seen your previous post on the topic I'd have the impression that you were pondering a couple of years in Japan, rather than a couple of weeks. Of course! It's a great chance to experience something trily different. I'll be going to Tokyo for a week in September, and I'm really looking forward to it. So far I've really enjoyed my trips to Asia.
