Very mellow day. Slept in. Got some plants from twostepsfwd (verbena and a strawberry). Shopped for a few snacks for D&D tonight. someotherguy did most of the housework, and I did most of the pesteringgentle requests for housework tasks. I stuffed dates with wine-soaked bleu cheese and wrapped them in quarter-slices of peppered bacon, and I'll broil them when people get here.

(Yes, we'll have the standard chips and dip and soda, but I'm the official Snack Wench, and I don't enjoy being Snack Wench unless I can make at least one foofy snack.)

i admit, i come up with some odd combinations of things, but this, this is not something i'd ever imagine to put together. i am trying to imagine what it tastes like, but no luck. (ok, it doesn't help that i am eating licorice right now.)

The progression went like this: someotherguy remembered that mom had left us a pound of peppered bacon, and remembered that a friend had made bacon-wrapped dates for a party and he'd liked them. I came home and googled recipes for them, and most of them had the dates stuffed with cheddar or bleu cheese. Throw in the wine-soaked bleu that mom left, and wah-lah. (I tried the dates before they were wrapped in bacon (but after they were stuffed) and they were surprisingly yummalicious).

Normally, I'd be thrilled, but I haven't been alone with stonebender in weeks, so I'm gonna have to pass this time. Thanks, though, a lot!
