Aug. 23rd, 2006 04:30 pmWhen I was in Japan, people showered me with gifts. When I got home, more
gifts from my loved ones. One of my favorites was this one:
someotherguy was at the Berkeley Bowl or the BART station or
something while I was in Tokyo, and a guy was there selling poems written
on the spot, on any topic.
someotherguy told the guy that he
would be picking his girlfriend up at the BART after a two-and-a-half week
trip to Japan, and the guy wrote a sweet, non-sucky poem about our
reuniting.
someotherguy gave him ten bucks for the poem, and I
was really touched and grateful. Yesterday, we ran into the guy at the
Berkeley Bowl, and I was able to thank him. He seemed really happy that
I'd liked it.
It was lovely, and sweet, and if you know me at all, you know I groove on
it when poets get paid.
