I'm beginning to catch up on things from before my trip. I'll try to spend
my downtime today getting at least through the 20 questions thing.

Here are five, for your-- well, not entertainment, exactly. :-)

Q: How did you meet your partners?

A: [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and I had known each other in a vague and
peripheral way for several years on alt.polyamory. One day, I noticed
something he said on the group, and I clicked on the link in his .sig to
his website, xango.org. At the time,
his personal ad wondered if he was wasting his time even bothering, and I
didn't think he was, so I wrote and told him so. We started corresponding,
and a couple of months later, we realized we were in love. Our first date
(which we use as our anniversary) was four hours in Berkeley (I had driven
up to the Bay Area to visit folks, including him).

[livejournal.com profile] someotherguy wrote me an email after seeing my profile on LJ. I almost tossed it in the
trash, but I decided to read it. He said he was fairly new in town, and asked if I knew of any
atheist activities in town. (He and I lived about five miles from each
other at the time.) I said that in fact, there was an atheist gathering
I'd been trying to get around to attending for a year or so, and it was
the next night, and if he'd go, I would. We sat through the WORST movie
ever, left a little early, talked each other's ears off (and he's not
usually much of a talker with strangers), and went home and started making
plans to see each other again. We've been inseparable ever since.

One of the reasons I felt good about seeing [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy is when
I asked him if his wife was okay with our having coffee the following
Saturday, he said "If she weren't, I wouldn't be doing it." That
Saturday, we had coffee together, and [livejournal.com profile] sogwife decided at the
last minute to join us. It was great. We did some walking and some
talking, and by the end of the day, I felt like I wished we were all
holding hands. The next Wednesday, we had dinner at their house. I
showed up before [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy came home from work, and [livejournal.com profile] sogwife was dressed in her wenchly best outfit (as was I), and we
talked and laughed and hung out in their huge backyard (where my current
userpic is set) and started feeling "girlfriendy". Within a week, the
three of us were in love.

Q: What's the worst thing you ever did?

A: Oh, gosh, I would have no idea how to measure "worst" in this context.
One of the things I've done wrong, though, that I still regret, is lying
by omission to my ex, TOTGA(tm). I let him believe I was not sleeping with
Naked-guy, so even though it wasn't against our agreement for me to do so,
and even though I told him a few days later, by my reckoning I cheated on
him.

Q: What's your dream job?

A: Anything that means I can spend more time in my home with my family.
Lately, I've been doing contract writing and editing, and if I could do
that full-time (and figure out a way to get health benefits), that would
be a dream. Ideally, I would make enough money to let [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy quit working for a year or two and write a book or
something.

Q: What do you like about being a temp?

A: No job interviews (or few, anyway). No stake in office politics. I
never have to take work home. I don't feel like work is ever a millstone.
I can quit without notice if I hate my job.

Q: Some people would call you kinky just because you're poly. Are you?

A: I sometimes say I have some "person-specific kinks". What I basically
mean is that while I'm perfectly happy with vanilla sex, and don't
consider myself kinky by nature, I have some pretty kinky things I do with
a specific partner that I'm not at all interested in outside of that
relationship.
