[livejournal.com profile] someotherguy: "I was just thinking that it would be easy to rewrite Romeo and Juliet as a modern romance. Instead of poison, Juliet would post to her LiveJournal that she was dead."

Oh Romeo, Romeo, what's your e-mail addy, Romeo?

Yeah, but then [livejournal.com profile] romeo could just go to [livejournal.com profile] fake_lj_deaths and have them research whether [livejournal.com profile] juliet had actually killed herself or not.

And yes, I'm sure Romeo and Juliet are real LJ users. :)

I can appreciate that comment. Imagine rewriting Romeo and Juliet from a present-day-poly perspective. R & J were teenagers. They could both come from feuding-poly families and already be involved with other lovers when they meet.

If this story ended with death in a crypt it might look more like a massacre. OTOH virtual death in an online community might be even more dramatic today.

Which would lead to a whole 'nother act: in which fifty bajillion LJ communities explode with drama and an entry goes up on Encyclopedia Dramatica.

Naw, his brother Lawrence would go there and check it out, and he'd txt the answer to Romeo, but Romeo's cell phone would be off!!

On reading of her death, Romeo would delete his account and toss his cable modem into the Tiber, or whatever river happens to be closest to Verona.

BTW, does [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy know that Kissing Hank's Ass is now a video, on You Tube?

I'm pretty sure that's the Nimpsy/starcantdead video you're talking about and if so, yeah. He links to it on his site, and it's pretty old. There's another one called "hot dog", I think, a student film, but I haven't seen that one online, only on VHS here at the house. We can show you some time, if you want. :-)

Yeah, the Nimpsy one is what I meant. It's still making the LJ rounds!
If I'm ever at your house at a TV appropriate time, sure!
I used to put peanut butter and relish on hot dogs, because I saw it in Sixteen magazine. What would Hank say about that?

And yes, I'm sure Romeo and Juliet are real LJ users.

And a couple of quick clicks confirms that, indeed, they are.

If they're not good users, their icons should be lined out, I thought. I'll try it:

... and then a dozen of the dot.snark communities would be featuring the latest trainwrecky posts, while gloating over the Jerry Springerish situation.

here is something this thread would enjoy.
