Another long-ass survey.

1. What time did you get up this morning?
I think around 10. Too early, as I was up until 4, but oh, well.

2. Diamonds or pearls?
Neither. I have said for years that anyone who buys me diamonds or pearls doesn't know me.

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
Pan's Labyrinth

4. What is your favourite TV show?
Heroes

5. What do you usually have for breakfast?
Not sure there's a "usually", but frequent stars are toast, O'Brien potatoes, hot cereal...

6. What is your favourite cuisine?
I don't do favorites well, but some faves are Thai, Japanese, and Tibetan

7. What is your middle name?
Joan

8. What food do you dislike?
brussels sprouts, cinnamon, cumin, caraway seeds, lima beans, fruit-with-chocolate, orange-flavored things (but not oranges), most smoked things

9. What is your favourite CD at the moment?
"Imperfectly", borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] stonebender

10. What kind of car do you drive:
A borrowed one ([livejournal.com profile] dbubley's Sable)

11. Favourite sandwich?
Tomato and mayo (with optional sprouts and/or avocado)

12. What characteristics do you despise?
Cruelty, hypocrisy, dishonesty for personal gain

13. Favourite item of clothing?
Hmmmm. Again with the favorites thing. I do love my lacy things, like the catsuits. I also love the Nightmare Before Christmas t-shirt, and my Wonder-Woman pajamas.

14. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation?
To visit [livejournal.com profile] kevinkjr in Honolulu, maybe, but this is another hard one to choose a favorite for.

15. What colour is your bathroom?
White, but it's got a superhero theme.

16. Favourite brands of clothing?
None.

17. Where would you retire to?
Right here, baby. I love my neighborhood.

18. What was your most memorable birthday?
My surprise party at the Womboink in 2002. It was my first-ever surprise party.

19. Favourite sport to watch?
Baseball.

[skipped ones I have no interest in]

27. Pets?
No, thank you.

28. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share with us?
I fixed the paper-folding machine! ;-)

29. What did you want to be when you were little?
A singer.

30. How are you today?
Very very very sleepy. I've been burning the candle at both ends, and I'm contemplating taking the weekend off from everything, but we'll see how I feel after a night's sleep.

Probably [livejournal.com profile] berkeleyfarm's truffles.

Most of the time.

36. Favourite read?
Right now, Amy Sedaris's entertaining book.

Wheeee!

I'm really enjoying these surveys. I'll bet you like them for the same reason I do: you get to talk about "moi!" :) (But I'm also having fun reading other people's answers - see response to some of your answers below.)

I get the feeling a lot of people don't like these so much, or maybe they've done a million of them and they're totally over them. I posted [livejournal.com profile] epi_lj's survey on my LJ, and invited folks to chime in with their answers, but nobody did. What's wrong with these people - what, do they have lives or something?

13. Favourite item of clothing?
Hmmmm. Again with the favorites thing.

I feel the same way you do about "favorites". I like different things at different times, and I also like things that are so different from each other, that how could I compare them to each other to arrive at a favorite?

On the rec.arts.movies.* hierarchy (on Usenet), people are always posting "what is your favorite [blah blah] scene" or "who is the worst [yadda yadda] actor in a [whatever type of] movie", and so on. I could never answer them because I could never think of a favorite (or a most/best/ worst, etc). Then it finally dawned on me that I don't need to have favorites to answer, I can just answer with something I like (or hate).

What's with the need for superlatives all the time? I feel like I'm stuck in an advertising jingle. :)

[skipped ones I have no interest in]

Where'd you get this survey? I wouldn't mind knowing what those questions were.

24. When is your birthday?
September 20th

Two days after mine! (But probably quite a few years after mine - '54.)

26. What is your shoe size?
10 men's, 11/12 women's.

Whoa, impressive!

OK, off to complete this survey for myself. :)

Oh, stick around. You'll see that people do these all the time, in waves. I love them, too, as much for reading others' as for posting mine. I don't always respond when people post theirs, but I always read them.

Oh, and the missing questions were things like "Who do you think will fill this out next?" and "Who do you think will never fill this out?"
