Oh, and if I have a crush on you and I want you to know beyond doubt, I'll tell you. More likely, I'll flirt a little, hint a little, spend time with you when I can, and somewhere down the line, if it seems you may be crushed out on me (and if I'm still crushed out on you), I'll probably say something subtle like "I have a crush on you".

If I don't tell you/a person, it's because I've concluded that doing so would be a bad idea. Not because they don't have told the world "tell me if you have a crush on me."

If I don't have some idea, yet, of whether it's a good idea to tell the person, it probably isn't, at least not then. (But that's how I relate to people; YMMV and all that.)

Some of us with Y chromosomes don't "get" hints... perhaps because we've been conditioned to not trust them. Hell, some of us can't even trust an outright declaration from a goddess simply because it seems impossible!

The point of hints like that, though, are that they aren't clear. If I need it to be clear, I'll just say that I have a crush on you. If I kind of like the ambiguity, then hints are in order.
