survey survey survey
Jun. 2nd, 2007 01:22 am601. Do you have a lust for life?
Yep. Life is my fucktoy, as a matter of fact.
602. Do you want to get more out of life?
Sure!
603. Would you want to learn to:
Convert to Buddhism? Nope.
Cure a hangover? Sure, but only so I could help other people. My hangover cure is to never get drunk. (Just sipped, ba-dum-bum.)
Lie persuasively? I already know how to do that.
604. What character from a movie is most like you?
Hmmmmm. Dunno. I'll have to ask
605. Are you comfortable with the idea of your own death?
NO! In fact, I spend way too much time being really frustrated and helpless about that. I don't *want* to die, dammit, and it bugs me (that's an understatement) that there's not a damned thing I can do about it.
606. How do you feel about arranged marriages?
You mean like feng shui? (I'm not in favor of them, but I think that's because I was raised in a culture that doesn't really understand them or favor them.)
607. What do you hate that everyone else seems to like?
Cinnamon. Chocolate with fruit.
608. What do you like that others seem to hate?
Olivia Newton-John movies. Michael Bolton's voice.
609. If you had to be named after a month, which month would you pick?
Hmmmm. August.
610. Is time more like a highway or a meadow to you?
What an odd question. A highway, I guess, at least perceptually.
611. What is your favorite movie?
I don't have one favorite, but I have several I watch over and over: Fried Green Tomatoes, Bull Durham, the BBC version of Hitchhiker, the Tales of the City miniseries...
612. Which would you choose to be back in the day: a warrior, an alchemist, a minstrel, a bard, an oracle, a peasant, or a merchant?
Which one has the best chance of living a long, happy life? I'll say a minstrel, just because I do love singing and performing.
613. What is your favorite song lyric?
Some favorites:
"'I am not much of a joiner,' she says. 'That's not where I draw my strength. Some of them go for the depth of field, while most of 'em go for the length. Me, I will go for the hard combination...'"
"Because there ain't a man who got the money in his hand who got any of that bread by bein' slow in the head. The easier it looks, the harder it hooks -- there ain't no such thing as easy money."
"We both know what memories can bring. They bring diamonds and rust. [...] And if you're offering me diamonds and rust, I've already paid."
"I would shelter you and keep you in light, but I can only teach you night vision."
"I was so wary then, the Ugly American, thinner than oxygen, tough as a whore. I said 'You can lie to me. I own what's inside of me, and nothing surprises me any more.'"
"He's like a boxer who had to retire after winning, but killing a man. All of the moves, but none of the courage, afraid to throw a punch that might land."
"I'm gonna do my best swan dive into shark-infested waters. I'm gonna pull out my tampon and start splashing around, 'cause I don't care if they eat me alive -- I've got better things to do than survive... And they can call me crazy if I fail. All the chance that I need is one in a million, and they can call me brilliant if I succeed. Gravity is nothing to me, moving at the speed of sound. I'm just gonna get my feet wet until I drown."
"I can smell the bleach that they use in the hall, but it can't clean the dirt off of me. It seeps under the door, and across the floor. It's starting to hurt every time I breathe."
"The name she gave was Caroline, daughter of a miner. And her ways were free, and it seemed to me the sunshine walked beside her."
God, there are so many more. Maybe I'll make a separate post just for this.
614. What will you never run out of?
There is nothing I will never run out of, I suppose.
615. If you could force someone to fall madly in love with you, (anyone you choose) would you do it?
No no no no no.
616. Have you ever seen the Disney movie The Black Cauldron?
Yes.
617. Have you ever read The Black Cauldron by Alexander Lloyd (or any of his other books in the Prydain Chronicles)?
No.
618. Have you ever written a paper the night before it was due?
Oh, so many times.
How about the day it was due?
Yep.
619. Is there a movie you have watched so many times that you can quote it line for line?
Large portions of Bull Durham, Grease, and The Sound of Music.
620. What is your favorite season?
Spring, probably.
621. Do you mind being described as cute?
Nah, but it usually only happens when I'm being really goofy.
622. What is the tackiest object in your home?
*laugh* The big black rubber garden-gnome buttplug, probably.
623. What do you think people are most ignorant towards?
Whatever they don't want to believe.
624. What is it that makes you an interesting person?
I'm not sure I am an especially interesting person, and I don't mean that to be self-depracating. I think some people are interested in some details of my life (I'm bi and poly and an atheist), but I don't think that interest is necessarily about me. I'm not really sure. (Coming back to answer this after answering #625. I do think that my enthusiasm for stuff interests some people.)
625. What makes other people interesting to you?
Their passions. Their enthusiasm. Stuff they know that I don't. Their musical talent. Their writing talent.
626. How open to suggestion are you?
More than when I was younger, but still not as open as I wish I were.
627. Is Michael Jackson black or white?
He's African-American (black), and I think this question is ignorant and repulsive.
628. Are you often lonely?
No, almost never.
629. What’s the most unusual pet you’ve ever had?
All the kids had chameleons in my neighborhood in Spain.
630. Have you ever threatened an authority figure?
In the sense of "was perceived as a threat by", yes, but not in the sense of "made threats toward".
631. If you had to choose would you rather make all your decisions henceforth with your head only or with your heart only?
Head only. Of course, I don't have to choose, and I'm really glad I don't.
632. How imaginative are you?
Not very.
633. Do you like the Counting Crows?
Yes, but I don't call them "the" Counting Crows. I would totally be Adam Duritz's love slave.
634. Where did you find this survey?
The culprit was
635. Are you more tense or laid back?
Lately, tense, but on average over the years, so laid back that if I were calmer, I'd be comatose.
636. Does your happiness depend on anyone else, or are you happy no matter what any one says or does?
It's a mixture of those two things, but I confess it's hard for me to sustain being happy around unhappy people.
637. What do you think of the idea of putting the bible into the format of a fashion magazine to attract the interest of teenagers?
Puke.
638. How often do you drink to get drunk?
Never in my life.
639. Would you consider yourself to be diplomatic?
In a weird, twisted way, yes.
640. Do you think that most of the classes you have taken were taught in such a way as to make plain the relevance of the subject matter in your everyday life?
Hmm, probably, but I'm not sure that's always necessary.
641. Do you remember Crystal Pepsi?
Vaguely.
642. When was the last time you spent a night away from home?
March 6-14, we went to San Diego. We stayed with family, and in a hotel.
643. Some people say that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Is that true?
Nope.
644. What is the most interesting TV channel?
Dunno. I used to be addicted to CourtTV. I watched the OJ and Menendez trials start to finish.
645. Name one song you could live without hearing ever again:
And give you ammunition? I think not.
646. Do your pets understand you when you talk?
I don't have (or want) pets.
647. What are three things you HAVE NOT done that might surprise people?
Taken illegal drugs, gotten drunk, gone to a sex party.
648. Have you ever had a secret admirer?
Nope.
649. Have you been to a museum this year?
Nope.
650. Do you ever watch porn?
Yep, but not often.
