Yesterday, aquenigmatic took me to a place that I don't want to give a lot of details about, but that makes it sound more mysterious than it really is. Well, wait, it IS mysterious, in that good way, but we weren't breaking the law or anything. In this jurisdiction, anyway. :-)

Still, I had such a beautiful morning, and a fabulous Ethiopian breakfast, with a person who makes me feel simultaneously way-not-cool-enough* and perfectly at ease. Thank you, aquenigmatic!



(*Fortunately, I'm a grownup who has come to terms with being "uncool" and doesn't actually strive for coolness. Still, sometimes I'm around people and feel like they MUST be getting ready to tell me I have to go sit at the nerds' table, even if that feeling now just amuses me rather than upsetting me. Does that make sense?)

ethiopian breakfast? whoa. i so totally need to come visit. none of the et places here do breakfast.

A couple of them do here, but I'd never tried it before. It's lovely. We got their standard breakfast, which was three items on injera: Some kind of grain I didn't get the name of, simple and delicious; an egg-and-onion scramble; and a pile of injera fitfit with beef. It was SO good. And I had two cups of hot milk with honey, which played havoc with my stomach later, but it was totally worth it. :-)

And YES YES YES you do need to come visit. And just for you, I'm willing to wait until you have OHMIGOD KEEYOOT BAYBEE! in tow. Because I'm sweet that way.

I have never heard of Ethiopian breakfast, either! Is that a traditional Ethiopian breakfast, or a mix between a western breakfast and an Ethiopian dinner? I can't actually tell.

It's always the cool people saying that...not cool like the Fonz but cool like priorities in fucking order and still able to laugh and show delight and kind. And make sense. And I gave up being cool when I went back to school. Now I am a nerd-lite with a polarized plug and everything. I want to be a big nerd one day.
